There is a lot on social media right now about the stay at home order that is in place in Michigan. I can understand the concerns from both point of views, but I will always side with the health and safety of myself and others. I’m not writing to argue about it but rather to just take the time and say thank you to those of you whom are abiding by this order.
Thank you for taking it seriously and staying home. It does make a difference and our family appreciates your compliance. We understand that these restrictions greatly affect individuals and families in varying degrees, both good and bad.
Your decision to stay home improves my son’s chances of avoiding this virus, and that means the world to us. He still needs his hospice care and that involves members of his hospice team entering our home. They take every precaution to keep our son healthy and they have families too. But they still have to go out into the community to buy their groceries and fill their gas tanks to check in on their patients. Your decision to stay home directly affects their health, which directly affects my son and my family. We know that if he comes down with this virus he most likely would not survive.
Thank you for staying home, even when it makes you feel lonely. We understand first hand the feeling of isolation with this quarantine, but it’s only temporary for you. This won’t last forever.
Thank you for staying home, even when you are bored. We get it, it’s a big adjustment when you can’t go do things like you want to; but this won’t last forever.
Thank you for staying home, even when you can’t eat out. We know eating out is an exciting treat; but this won’t last forever.
Thank you for staying home, even if it means canceling a vacation. We realize it just plain sucks when plans have to change; but this won’t last forever.
Thank you for staying home, even when that means missing time with family and friends. We recognize the love and value of these relationships; but this won’t last forever.
Thank you for staying home, even when it prevents you from roaming stores and shopping. We get the point, sometimes you just need to get out of the house; but this won’t last forever.
Thank you for staying home, even if you don’t agree with it. We sympathize that life doesn’t always go how we want it to; but this won’t last forever.
*Hand became red and swollen for no apparent reason requiring his nurse to come for a visit. He sure does love her!
Thank you for staying home because this really won’t last forever, and neither will our son. We are thankful for everyday with him and you increase these days by your sacrifice to stay home.
We identify with everything you are struggling with, because we’ve been living this way for several years. We didn’t plan for it, just like the world never planned for this virus. And sometimes that means having to do things you don’t want to. But I promise you, you will come out of this stronger than when you went in. You will have a better appreciation for all you have and a better understanding of what really matters. And that is more important than anything else.
